This shaggy dog story is just about taking the biscuit

Mongrel has been passed over by 4,900 potential owners at dogs & cats home

A dog at a London dogs & cats home has been rejected by potential owners almost 5,000 times.

Biscuit has spent nearly 700 days at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, after arriving as a stray at the charity’s Old Windsor centre in February 2013.

The two-year-old mongrel has watched more than 4,900 dogs find new homes in the past 22 months.

Biscuit is now the longest-serving resident across all three Battersea centres in London, Old Windsor and Brands Hatch, and the charity is now making a desperate plea to find the friendly dog a home just days before his second Christmas in its care.

“It’s unbelievable Biscuit still hasn’t found a home when he’s such a beautiful and fun-loving dog who would fit in perfectly with a family,” says Kaye Mughal, Battersea Old Windsor centre manager.

“Every day we hope someone will call us wanting to meet him, but poor Biscuit is constantly rejected and hasn’t had any interest. We really thought he’d find a home before Christmas and can’t believe it’s almost his second one with us.”

There is no time limit on how long a dog or cat can spend looking for a new home at Battersea.

Biscuit is looking for a home with experienced owners, who live away from the inner city and do not have any other pets. He will need regular walks and a private garden (to play fetch).
