Garda operation targets law-breakers while out shopping

Arrests, warrant execution, checkpoints and public relations all part of operation

Gardaí have executed 18 outstanding arrest warrants as part of a special operation to target law breakers when they go shopping.

Operation Thor Retail Day of Action saw divisional task force gardaí, members of community policing, and the regional traffic Unit set up two operations on Saturday at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Swords and the Omni centre in Santry, both in north Dublin.

Gardaí said the operation had four pillars - including the execution of warrants, checkpoints, public relations efforts, and arrests.

In the course of Saturday’s operations five cars were seized for breaches of the Road Traffic Acts and the 18 warrants were served on people of interest to the gardaí.
