Air strike called off

Passengers booked to fly with Aer Lingus next week are no longer at risk of being disrupted by the strikes that Siptu had threatened to hold from Monday. Negotiations on an alternative to outsourcing will run until December 3rd. If Aer Lingus then proceeds with outsourcing, Siptu will activate its strike plan - just in time for the Christmas travel season.

Argus Car Hire has found that 32 per cent of its customers intend to travel overseas to visit friends and family over Christmas, with 30 per cent planning to rent a car. Its top five destinations for Christmas car hire in Europe are Geneva, Malaga, Alicante, Tenerife and Faro.
