What's your earliest holiday memory? We used to go to Sneem, in Co Kerry, each year until I was 16. I have early memories of fishing for mackerel in a boat and swimming in the sea. Every year we would go down to stay in our neighbour's house on the rickety train or travel for seven hours in the car.

What was your worst holiday?About eight years ago I went to Crete with three very good friends to a studio apartment. There was unbelievably bad weather, and it rained for the whole week. Then we all started to fight and ran out of money so pooled what we had. However, one day two of the girls went off for a walk in the gorge while we used money to drink cocktails. On the last day I fell off a chair (sober!) and gouged half of my leg out on the pavement. I needed stitches, but I couldn't get them, as we had to catch a plane. Since then I have had a massive hole in my leg.

What was your best holiday? We went to Tenerife in February and stayed in the really posh Royal Garden Villas. It was probably the nicest place I've ever stayed, a four-bedroom villa with an infinity pool and a practically Michelin-star restaurant. We got a good discount and were upgraded. The weather was nice, and we had babysitters all the time for my two children. It's not typically Tenerife – more like Thailand or Bali.

If budget or work were not a restriction, what would be your dream holiday? I'd love to go to the Antarctic on a boat and travel through the icebergs. It would be amazing to be somewhere far away and totally different with no phone; just me, the penguins and fishing.

If you had your pick, who would you bring on holiday with you?My best girlfriends, Lizzie and Sarah, as I know they would get me into trouble and we'd end up doing mad things. We never go away together since we've settled down. After that I'd pick my family.

What's your favourite place in Ireland? It has to be the Parknasilla hotel, in Sneem. It's an amazing location, right on the water. I have lots of childhood nostalgia about Sneem. It was a big fancy place we went to for lunch. I am at my happiest down there.

Your recommended holiday reading?I have to bring 10 books on holiday with me. If I have no children to mind I will just lie in the shade and read two books a day. I like reading Lee Child's Jack Reacher books – good twisted crime novels – under the palm trees.

Where will you go to next?I'm going Christmas shopping in Boston in December. I lived in San Diego, in California, for five years and have a lot of friends there. So I am meeting up with the girls to get our nails done and go to the outlets in Wrentham.
