Hamster holidays

You can find out what life’s like as a hamster by staying in the French city of Nantes. For €99 a night, Villa Hamster (uncoinchezsoi. net) lets its guests eat grain, run in a giant wheel and sleep in woodchips. Owners Frédéric Tabary (above)

and Yann Falquerho say people sometimes want to live like their pets. “Often, the adults who come here have wanted or did have hamsters when they were small.” The price is soon to go up, as today’s hamsters “need Wi-Fi” and big TVs.

Capital is a bridge too far

One in three Irish people fail to recognise Dublin without the Ha’penny Bridge, says a survey by a hotels website. They were stumped by an image of the city when the iconic bridge was airbrushed out. Irish people recognised other cities, including London, Paris and Sydney, before their own capital, according to Hotels.com.
