Apple Mac Studio: Chip upgrade gives the boost in performance you need in a compact device

This M2 Ultra-toting device is aimed at creative professionals, and brings plenty of graphics power and ports to your desktop

From €2,449

Apple Mac Studio is a powerful beast. And with the latest chip upgrade, the M2 Ultra, you get the boost in performance that you need in a compact device. The Studio is aimed at creative professionals, bringing plenty of graphics power and ports to your desktop.

You pay for all that power, however. Prices start at €2,449, but that is for the base model with the M2 Max, which has a 12-core CPU, 30-core graphics processing unit and a 16-core neural engine. For the top-spec machine, you’ll pay more than €10,000 – bumping the chip to a 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU and a 32-core neural engine. There’s a lot of power under that particular hood, including 192GB of RAM and an 8TB solid-state drive to store your work on.

The Mac Studio can play back up to 10 streams of 8K ProRes video – 22 on the M2 Ultra chip – and work across five displays. Apple’s powerhouse machine also supports 12 high-performance ports, so you can transfer photos and videos, connect to displays and other peripherals, or go wireless with next generation wifi and Bluetooth 5.3.
