Tech tools: LG’s MoodUp a fridge for all seasons

Using ThinQ app, you can choose from 22 colours for the upper door panel and 19 colours on the lower

The focus these days is on making tech personal. But how personal can you make a home appliance? If you look at some of the new appliances in LG’s new range, it turns out there are ways to do it. Take the MoodUp fridge, for example. LG has designed it with several colour-changing panels that can be altered with a mobile app, allowing your fridge to reflect your mood each day. Using LG’s ThinQ app, you can choose from 22 colours for the upper door panel and 19 colours on the lower, with themes influenced by seasons, moods and places. The built-in Bluetooth speaker can stream music from your phone, tablet or laptop, and the panels can change colours in time with the music.

Those panels aren’t just about looking flashy though; they also notify you about the fridge door being left open too long, or blink as you walk towards the fridge as a sort of welcome. And helpfully, at night the freezer door will glow brighter to help you find your way.
