Tech Tools: Shock Clock is a timepiece with a difference

Idea behind innovative device is that the fear of the inevitable shock will jolt you awake

Top of the list of devices I would least like to invest in is the Shock Clock, a wrist-worn alarm clock that will shock you awake in the morning. The device runs through a cycle: vibrate, beep, shock. The idea behind it is that the fear of the inevitable shock will jolt you awake and stop you from hitting the snooze button to go back to sleep.

It’s from the people behind the Pavlok band, which used a similar tactic to help you break bad habits such as nail biting.

This is the third generation of the Shock Clock, bringing longer battery life of up to seven days and sleep tracking. In addition to the shock wake-up, you can also disable the alarm by subjecting yourself to puzzle solving, or doing some jumping jacks. Either way, you won’t be going back to sleep any time soon.
