Sounds like Riverdance for the rave generation, but the people behind Technosis prefer to call it "club theatre for the new millennium". This new stage-production promises to fuse Celtic mythology with modern club culture, using dance, music, theatrics, video projections and some good, old-fashioned pyrotechnics to "explore the Irish psyche". The storyline concerns a race of people whose music is stolen by the forces of darkness, and who must journey into the underworld to get it back. The troupe is led by actress Ciara O'Callaghan, above, who plays Yvonne Doyle in Fair City, and Paschal Friel, who recently starred in Donal O'Kelly's Judas Of Gallerus. The whole shebang is directed and choreographed by Caimin Collins, who has done shows for the Opera Theatre Company and Siamsa Tire, and who also produced Ireland's Voices For Peace. Technosis is playing at Dublin's Red Box for three nights, starting next Thursday (18th), and though it may not quite be Lord Of The Dance, it's sure to be a dazzling Celtic spectacle.
